WHAT IS CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY ?
It is one of the most gentle, non-invasive forms of bodywork being practiced today. Craniosacral therapists use a light touch - generally no more than the weight of a nickel - to test for restrictions in the system. While experienced therapists can detect imbalances by working anywhere on the body, it is most easily detected at the cranium and sacrum. As imbalances are alleviated the body is then able to utilize it's natural self-corrective abilities. The therapist's intervention simply assists the inherent forces within the system to improve your body's internal environment - and strengthen it's ability to heal itself.

| WHAT TO EXPECT:
Sessions take place in a quiet setting with the client lying on a massage table. Clients remain fully clothed and it is recommended that they wear loose, comfortable clothing. Therapists make light contact with different areas of the craniosacral system, sometimes staying with an area for 10 to 15 minutes. Sessions can last an hour and a half. Most people report feeling very relaxed after their craniosacral therapy session, although experiences are as individual as those receiving and can vary from session to session.

"Cranially based treatment is now one of the most successful and fastest growing approaches to mind-body healing. Providing access to the unity of structure and function of the organism, such therapy offers a simple, direct, and non-dogmatic means for tapping the body's inherent intelligence in a fluid and spontaneous way. The craniosacral system is no less than the structural aspect of the central nervous system. It's methods originate in neural behavior and emotional energy and include their manifestations throughout the tissues and organs of the body. Both a medical system with precise anatomical criteria and a therapeutic art requiring a practitioner to feel, interpret, and move energy, modern craniosacral therapy offers a unique way to perceive and influence the structural configuration of the brain itself in it's relationship to the body's architecture." Don Cohen, D.C.
